Many people in and around Jogja still have few opportunities to provide for themselves. The Fair Trade shop gives marginalized groups, such as the physically challenged or female breadwinners, market access through which they can earn a living.
Transparency and accountability
All our products are made in Indonesia. We have transparency in pricing: most of our products are sold on consignment. Our partners receive an average of 65% of the retail price. For products we fully prepay, we consult with our partners and mutually agree on a fair sales price, but always related individually. The income covers the rent, the salaries of the staff, utility bills, marketing, etc. We aim for a 10 to 15% profit.
Fair trade practices and mutual respect: we pay on time and make pre-payments on request.
We help to raise and to stabilize the incomes of disadvantaged producers and artisans. We help to increase the commercial capacities of our producers.
To support entrepreneurship we provide micro-credits to individuals or groups. Selection is based on proposals and criteria on sustainability and impact. Our suppliers are working in safe and sustainable conditions.
Payment of a fair price: we consult with our partners over prices, we accept requested prices and we never push prices down.

No child labor
No child labor. We always ask whether children are employed and do not buy from businesses using child labor. ViaVia Jogja has a child protection policy.
No discrimination
Non-discrimination and gender equity are human rights principles. We consider non-discrimination also in the context of ethnicity, sexual orientation, disabilities, age, and class.
Capacity building
We try to improve our shop continuously. We also try to strengthen some of our suppliers, for example by giving them the right equipment.
Promote fair trade
We try to increase the awareness of our consumers. We make them realize the importance of trade justices, fair prices, fair wages, working conditions, and supporting the livelihoods of the producers. We try to connect our consumers with our producers.
Respect for the environment
We contribute to environmental groups and causes, in addition to hands-on activities (i.e. cleaning of rivers, training in schools, etc.) Our shop uses LED lighting, no plastic bags, and recycled equipment. It is no coincidence that the call to “go green” is heard everywhere. Understanding the environmental challenges we are currently faced with, has never been more urgent. Reduce, recycle, and reuse all goes into making creative, organic, and green products.
