Discover the secrets of Gunung Kidul with this full day trip. We take the car from ViaVia early morning for a 1,5 hour drive to the starting point of a relatively tough 4 hour trek along back roads to the peak of the ancient Nglanggeran volcano. A less known path brings us to 360 degree views. We hike all around the mountain, until we follow a tourist trail down to the car. Here we deserve a local lunch.
Next stop is a short but sweet walk to the Sri Gethuk waterfall where we can regain our energy by enjoying an incredible swim in the Oyo river.
When the sun starts to set over the country, we drive to a 100-metres-deep horizontal cave, to witness the exit of 100,000 flying bats on their way to start their night.
