Join us for a two-day wildlife observation in Kemuning, Central Java.
We work together with the Javan Wildlife Institute (JAWI) to offer this unique immersive experience in one of the remaining lowland tropical forests of Java, rich with biodiversity, including one of the world’s rarest primates, the Javan slow loris. At the same time, we will also enjoy exploring village life.
Day 1 (D)
We leave Jogja in the morning and drive for about 3 hours to Kemuning.
Upon arrival, we’ll explore the village and join the locals for a Warok dance performance. At night time, we explore the forest in the dark and with a portion of luck, we encounter iconic wildlife such as the Javan slow loris, as well as other nocturnal species like the Sunda flying lemur, the Red Giant Flying Squirrel, and the Javanese Flying Squirrel.
Day 2 (B,L)
In the morning, we return to the forest, as Kemuning is home to a wide variety of bird species, including some rare ones. With binoculars in hand and the help of our experienced guide, you’ll have the chance to spot many of these feathered wonders.
After birdwatching, we’ll savor the sweetness of freshly made palm sugar, still warm from the oven. Then we’ll visit a local honey farm, where you can taste honey straight from the hive.
This morning adventure is a beautiful blend of rich biodiversity and living local traditions.
