Experience Indonesia first-hand

Borobudur, Prambanan, the Sultan’s palace… sure enough, we offer great tours to these classic travel destinations. But, to be honest, there’s so much more to discover in and around Jogjakarta. That’s why we developed a whole range of alternative activities you won’t find in the guidebooks.

Scratch a little beneath the surface by joining one of our city walks and learn everything about the local communities. Together we’ll examine various topics such as religion, local cuisine, traditional medicine, and contemporary street art. Cycle with us through endless rice paddies in search of traditional, Javanese village life or jump on the back of our motorbike to discover hidden temples.

Do you crave more serious action? No problem! We have a whole series of outdoor trips that will take you from the beach to the summit of volcanoes and everything in between.

Join us for some cross country cycling on the slopes of Merapi mountain, exploring caves and waterfalls in Gunung Kidul and canoeing through lush canyons.

We also offer multiple-day, overland trips to Bali, visiting the most impressive classics such as Bromo and Ijen volcano on our way. Have a look at the full range of tours below. You can see our trips as building blocks for your journey. We will gladly help you to tailor them to your needs!

We are engaged with the Travelife certification program and we have started the process to work step by step towards complying with its international sustainability standards.

Travelife is a three-stage certification program for tour operators and travel agents: (1) Travelife Engaged; (2) Travelife Partner and (3) Travelife Certified. We are at stage 1 – Travelife Engaged. We are working to move forward to stage 2 – Travelife Partner.

We do it ViaVia Style

Sustainable community based tourism with emphasis on respect for local people, their culture and nature.

  • We prefere to travel by foot, bicycle or local public transport
  • Locations are often off the beaten track
  • Parts of our profits goes to the community through various cultural and educational programs
  • We work with local guides that speak english
  • We compensate our carbon footprint by planting trees

Very satisfied with the service from Viavia. Quick contact via WhatsApp and everything was super clear. We did the Village tour by bicycle (you go to rice fields and a prawn cracker factory, among other things), a fantastic experience away from the busy streets of Yogya. The cooking course was also great fun, and you end up eating your own lunch (it was delicious!). I would recommend Viavia to everyone.

Did the Erotic Temples tour which included an excellent walk through farms and forest. Stayed outside of Solo and the driver and guide Zia met us at our hotel and took us from there to Candi Cetho, then we walked for several hours including a stop for lunch before visiting Candi Sukuh. Really enjoyed the walk, it was very relaxing and not particularly steep. The temples are very interesting and picturesque. Great communication with Via Via to book the tour.

Can’t seem to write separate reviews for the two tours I took with ViaVia
Tour 1 – Code River Tour
I was in Yogyakarta about 2 weeks ago and went on the most fabulous guided Code River tour. It was a lovely experience. First great tour guides – Salma and Dave. They really brought the already vibrant city to life. The plants, buildings and spaces I had wandered past now had names and meaning that gave me great insights into the villages near and around the river. I loved the conversation that included the incredible history of the City to gaining an understanding of how contemporary life works. Yogyakarta is a wonderful city and this tour just made my experience even richer. I especially loved the way the guides were so generous and created such a lively discussion. It was a special afternoon. I highly recommend and want to say thanks to my great guides.

Tour 2 – Street Art Tour
If I start with 5 stars am I giving it away too quickly – that you should do it? But quick summary the Jogja Street Art tour was a 5 star experience. It was an amazing walk with 2 very engaged guides, Adril and Hunni. They were so generous and fun. I loved the opportunity to wander through the village and get to see such interesting and wonderful works. And to have them explain and give insights was excellent. Phew – so much – it was too good! Authentic and genuine. A definite highlight.
